Q: Lebanese Community Abroad Current Situation - Summary of the Current Situation

·                Children abroad go to Public schools. They get affected sometimes by the Western life-style, peer pressure and weak moral values.

·                Some parents send their children to mediocre so-called "Religious schools" that offer inferior education to their children. Many of these children tend to believe that every thing traditional is inferior by nature. At any point in time these children might revolt with disastrous consequences.

·                Very few parents can afford the more respected traditional religious/private schools.

  • In addition to above, humble efforts are being made through week-end schools to provide the children with some basic religious education and the Arabic language.

  • A large number of families living in the West are faced with tremendous challenge regarding their children education and up-bringing. All statistics indicate that children educated in the west adopt the western values and abandon their connection with Lebanon and its culture. These parents wait for too long before they realize that their children have reached the no-return point. Then it is too late to fix it. Most parents are willing to return with their children to Lebanon, however they either can not afford the western-based schools or their children end up loosing at least one school year by being placed at lower grades. Traditional private schools abroad are either too expensive, too weak or don't even exist.
